Tip of the Week: Organizing Your Food Storage*
How are things in your food storage room these days? Here’s how mine looks right now:
Are you impressed?
I am feeling pretty good because everything has been organized according to expiration date, with a separate shelf of expired items sorted out, waiting to be consumed as soon as possible. No food wasting here! I really shouldn’t be bragging, because I didn’t do it. My 16 year old son did. He’s out of school and waiting to start a summer job, so last week he was all mine! I had big plans for him, to say the least, and after some bribery which may have included making his favorite Shrimp & Spinach Pasta for dinner, he spent 5 or 6 hours tackling the job, and we were both very pleased with the results. This is a great job for any kid old enough to locate and read the dates on cans and packages. Tell them it’s like a big, fun puzzle they can organize any way they want—as long as gets the oldest stuff to the front. Two can even work together on the project and even create an inventory sheet from which to plan future shopping.
